Airports: the good, the mad and the ugly
Beijings new international airport terminal has just been unveiled to the cameras for the first time, revealing how the worlds largest airport will look when it opens in February
The Norman Foster-designed building is inspired by Chinese colours and symbols with red pillars and dragon-like curves. Boasting more than a million square metres of floor area, the new building is bigger than all four of Heathrows terminals put together, and will accommodate a mind-boggling 53 million passengers.
But how will Beijing compare to other airports around the globe, such as Singapore's award-winning Changi Airport – or our very own much-maligned Heathrow? We take a look at the good, the mad and the ugly of the airport world...
