Orange looks back at an absorbing 2009 Super League season...

Super League XIV kicks off with defending champions Leeds Rhinos unsurprisingly making light work of under-strength new-boys Celtic Crusaders in a 28-6 win. The top teams make a steady start, aside from St Helens' surprise 20-19 defeat to Hull KR. Saints looked to have got themselves out of trouble with a 70th-minute drop goal from Sean Long, before conceding a penalty with five minutes left which Michael Dobson converted. It proved a strong month for Hull KR, who also drew with Bradford Bulls 13-13.
