In the biggest sporting shock since Fabio Capello inexplicably plonked Stewart Downing's name on his teamsheet to face Andorra, Maria Sharapova has been deposed as the sexiest female tennis player.

The Russian beauty was edged out by compatriot Maria Kirilenko, the 21-year-old stunner, in a six-week long competition which drew thousands of votes from Orange users.

Pre-tournament joint-favourite Ana Ivanovic had to settle for third while the likes of leggy Slovak, Daniela Hantuchova, didn't even make the final. Nor did Britain's Elena Baltacha, to the surprise of no-one.

Here are the results from the final, one so competitively fought, it put Andy Murray to shame:
