Mayweather and Marquez set for showdown

Floyd Mayweather and Juan Manuel Marquez

Floyd Mayweather and Mexico's Juan Manuel Marquez have both promised victory ahead of their non-title welterweight fight on Saturday.

Mayweather is undefeated as a professional, with a record of 39-0, and is the hot favourite to win the fight.

The American boxer told a press conference his preparations had gone well: 'It's been a great camp, a tremendous camp. A lot of hard work and dedication.

'In the sport of boxing, to go down as a legend you must face the best in your era and at this particular time Marquez is one of the best fighters in my era so we happen to meet September 19th.'

He continued to build up Marquez, who has twice lost to Manny Pacquaio, before explaining why he will continue to be undefeated.

'He's a hell of a fighter, good counterpuncher, boxer, but I've been around the sport and I've faced many different styles so I'll adjust and I'll adapt once I get to that squared circle Saturday night.'
