The worst ever England XI
Fabio Capello's men head to Croatia playing as dismally as any England side in history. But only one member from this overpaid squad of flops feature in our worst ever England XI from the last 25 years. Check out our 4-4-2 team and then you'll have the opportunity to send in your own selection at the end.
Goalkeeper: Ian Walker
Caps: 4
Selected by: Terry Venables, Glenn Hoddle and Sven-Goran Eriksson
While the majority of the media castigated Matthew Le Tissier after the 1-0 home defeat to Italy, more astute observers questioned Ian Walker, who allowed Gianfranco Zola's shot to slide in his near post. It may be harsh to include the former Spurs keeper in the worst XI on the basis of one mistake - after all, David James and Paul Robinson have made many more. But he was untroubled during any of his other three appearances. This, then, was Walker's England career - and he flunked it. He had to wait seven years for another cap - when Sven-Goran Eriksson lost the mobile phone which stored all his other goalkeeper phone numbers.
