Andy, Derby: Great page mate, who has made most sub appearances in the Premier League?
The Gaffer says: Nwankwo Kanu (101). Jermain Defoe (86), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (84), Duncan Ferguson (83) and Shola Ameobi (81) complete the top five. Nolberto Solano (131) is the most substituted player.
Gavin: Gaff, What is the least amount of goals scored for a player to be crowned the league's top goalscorer that season?
The Gaffer says: Do you mean in the Premier League? If so, Chris Sutton (Blackburn), Dion Dublin (Coventry) and Michael Owen (Liverpool) scored 18 goals in the 1997-98 season, while Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (Leeds), Michael Owen (Liverpool) and Dwight Yorke (Manchester United) scored the amount the following season.
Roley: Hi Gaff, could you tell me which player has scored the most goals in one Premier League match please?
The Gaffer says: Andrew Cole (Manchester United v Ipswich, 4 March 1995) and Alan Shearer (Newcastle United v Sheffield Wednesday, 19 September 1999) hold the record with five.

Jake: Alright Gaff, wanted to know if any footballer has become a politician?
The Gaffer says: Former World Player Of The Year George Weah is the main one, with a failed tilt at the Liberian presidency. Two others are Algimantas Liubinskas (Lithuanian coach turned parliamentarian) and Joseph Msika (Zimbabwe footballer turned vice president).
Sean Mullan: Which player made his debut for Man Utd in the 90s yet only scored his first Premier League goal last season?
The Gaffer says: A mind-boggling question. The best I can come up with is Fulham striker Erik Nevland. He made his Man Utd debut in 1998 but left without scoring. He then broke his Premier League duck the season before last when scoring for the Cottagers against Reading.
Jack, Palace: Have two teams from the same country ever met in the Super Cup final?
The Gaffer says: On only three occasions: 1990 Sampdoria v AC Milan, 1993 Parma v AC Milan, 2006 Sevilla v Barcelona.

Ross: Now Arjen Robben has signed for Bayern Munich, he will have played in the Dutch, English, Spanish and German leagues at the top level. Can you name other players to have done this?
The Gaffer says: Jon Dahl Tomasson, Abel Xavier, Gheorghe Popescu and Khalid Boulahrouz (thanks Daniel).
Jambo: Alright Gaff great page as usual. What is the biggest comeback in a two-leg European tie?
The Gaffer says: A couple of teams have recovered from a four-goal first-leg deficit. QPR thrashed Partizan Belgrade 6-2 at Loftus Road in the first leg of the UEFA Cup second round match in 1984. However, Partizan won the return leg 4-0, edging through on away goals. A year later in the same competition, Borussia Monchengladbach hammered Real Madrid 5-1 in the first leg of the third round but lost the second 4-0 with Real advancing on the away goal rule.
Breedo: Hey Gaff, can you name the five teams from Scotland that start and end with the same letter?
The Gaffer says: Celtic, Kilmarnock, Dundee United, East Fife, East Stirlingshire.

Jay: Who is the youngest captain to win the Champions League?
The Gaffer says: Didier Deschamps, who was 24 when he lifted the European Cup with Marseille in 1993.
Rob: Can you name any players who have played in Premier League with an animal for their last name? I can think of of Chris Eagles and Ruel Fox:
The Gaffer says: I've come up with Chris Eagles, Ruel Fox, Glen Cockerill, Danny Crow, Hayden Foxe, Steve Frog-gatt(!), Mark Fish, Bernard Lama, Darren Peacock, Gavin Peacock, David Raven.
Rob, Pompey: Which ground was the first to have floodlights installed and what was the first floodlit match?
The Gaffer says: The world's first ever floodlit match was at Bramall Lane on 14 October 1878. It was a friendly involving local sides in front of an attendance of 20,000, to 'enliven the dull winter afternoons'. The floodlights were powered by batteries and dyanmoes. Further use of floodlights proved so unreliable that it wasn't until 1956 that the first floodlit Football League match took place. It was at Fratton Park between Portsmouth and Newcastle.

Johnny Thompson: Who are the lowest placed teams who have, at one time, played in each level of the Football League?
The Gaffer says: That'll be Bradford Park Avenue, who currently play in the Northern Premier League Premier Division - two levels below the Blue Square Premier. They were last in the old Division One for three seasons either side of World War I, when their goalkeeper was the fabulously-named Ernest Scattergood (pictured).
Gavlar, Ayr: Who is the only Welshman to play for Glasgow Rangers? My mate asked me and I can't think who it is!
The Gaffer says: The only Welshman to play for Rangers was Cwmbran-born goalkeeper Andy Dibble in 1997. He joined on a free transfer, making his debut in a 1-0 Old Firm derby victory, but played only seven games before leaving for Sheffield United - just one of 21 transfers, including seven loans, in a peripatetic career.
Dave: Since 1992 in the Champions League, can you name the players who have won the trophy whose forename and surname begin with the same letter? e.g. Zinedine Zidane. And the same for the UEFA Cup for the same period?
The Gaffer says: What a strange question! Your wish is my command. Champions League: Marc Muniesa, Victor Valdes, Kakhaber Kaladze, Gennaro Gattuso, Zinedine Zidane, Didier Deschamps, Santiago Solari, Heiko Herrlich, Jens Jeremies, Basile Boli. Uefa Cup: Razvan Rat, Aleksandr Anyukov, Andrei Arshavin, Patrick Paauwe, Martin Max, Giovannu Galli, Massimo Marazzina, Sonny Silooy.

Davie: Loving this site, keeps me and the boys amused on a night shift...Anyway, can you tell me how many players currently playing in the Premier League have scored in an Old Firm derby? I've got 6...
The Gaffer says: I raise your six and put in eight: Daniel Cousin, Barry Ferguson, Steven Thompson, Stilyan Petrov, Craig Bellamy, Gregory Vignal, Mikel Arteta, Zurab Khizanishvili (scored an own goal).
Alan: Who was the last player to transfer from Liverpool to Man Utd or vice versa?
The Gaffer says: Phil Chisnell who left United for Liverpool in 1964. Players before that include Thomas McNulty, Allenby Chilton, Ted Savage, Tommy Reid, Fred Hopkin, Tom Miller, Jackie Sheldon and Tom Chorlton.
Andrew: As a frustrated LFC fan, just wondering what their record is at playing on Monday nights? Pretty poor in recent times if I recall.
The Gaffer says: This got me digging out the old calendars. The last time Liverpool won on a Monday was January 1st 2007, a 3-0 victory against Bolton at Anfield - and that wasn't even a night game, it was lunchtime! Since then they've had three draws and one defeat playing on Mondays.

The Gaffer says: Louis Saha, Wayne Rooney, Dietmar Hamann, Steve McManaman, Nicolas Anelka and Phil Neville. There is an oft-quoted seventh of Jesper Blomqvist, but I can't see any evidence of him playing in a Merseyside derby while at Everton.
Ian: Can you name the player who has scored the most goals against Man Utd in the Premier League?
The Gaffer says: Alan Shearer with 10.
Dave, Wigan: Who is the the top all-time scorer in Champions League?

If you expand the parameters in including the good old European Cup, the Top Ten are Raul, van Nistelrooy, Shevchenko, Henry, Di Stefano, Inzaghi, Eusebio, Del Piero, Morientes and Puskas.
