Diana to be remembered on anniversary

Tributes have been paid to Diana, Princess of Wales, on the 11th anniversary of her death.

Fans of the Princess made their annual pilgrimage to her former home, Kensington Palace, to leave flowers and tie pictures and messages to the iron gates.

Princes William and Harry remembered their mother in private, in contrast to last year, when the brothers marked the tenth anniversary of her death with a memorial service.

Second in line to the throne William, 26, is thought to be continuing with his secondment with various units within the Armed Forces while Army officer Harry, 23, is stationed with his regiment, the Household Cavalry, in the UK.

The Prince of Wales, meanwhile, is at the Queen's Balmoral Estate in Scotland with the Duchess of Cornwall.

The 36-year-old Princess and her lover Dodi Fayed, 42, were killed along with chauffeur Henri Paul when their Mercedes crashed in the Pont d'Alma tunnel in Paris on August 31, 1997.

Earlier this year the long-awaited inquest into Diana's death ruled that the couple were unlawfully killed through grossly negligent driving by Mr Paul and pursuing photographers.
