The firm behind the First Great Western rail service branded 'unacceptable' by ministers is to deliver a £29m improvement package.
Franchise operator FirstGroup was last month forced into moves to increase capacity and fund cheaper tickets at First Great Western which runs services from London to Reading, Bristol, South Wales and the West Country.
Aberdeen-based First said it was 'on course' to achieve improvements agreed with the Department for Transport, but added that its rail revenue growth had increased by more than 10 per cent in the 12 months to March.
In January, passengers were hit by above inflation price hikes across the network although First Great Western's poor performance prompted fare strikes by some consumers.
First's other rail franchises are First ScotRail, First Capital Connect and First TransPennine Express, making it the UK's largest rail operator.
