East 17 (1992-1998)
Who were they? They were Take Thats biggest rivals, although hipper and harder, from the mean streets of Walthamstow, yeah! Tony Mortimer, Brian Harvey, John Hendy and Terry Coldwell were the names of the geezers.
What was their style? Pop with a hip-hop edge and some occasional bad rapping.
Songs you might recognise: Stay Another Day, with its distinctive jingling bells, is on every Christmas album ever. It topped the charts in December 1994 and stayed there for five long weeks.
What happened to them? Brian dropped a massive clanger about his prolific Ecstasy pill intake, which impressed nobody, sadly. He was sacked and Tony Mortimer left shortly afterwards.
Where are they now? Brians often in the papers for exploits like dropping out of Im A Celebrity
after one day, and also for running himself over with his own car. But the bands working on a reunion and who knows, it might even happen.
