Scarface: The World Is Yours (Wii) - Review

RRP: £39.99
Out 6 July
The words “Say hello to my little friend” somehow just slide off the tongue as you pick up the Wiimote to play Scarface on Nintendo’s Wii. An incredibly violent and sweary film and game, it seems a weird choice for a port to the Wii. Somehow, though, running round the streets of Miami dealing drugs, killing gangsters and buying off cops feels strangely right.
In the wake of Manhunt 2 being banned on the Wii in the UK, Scarface steps up as its very violent Cuban cousin to fulfil your need for gore and bad language. You’ll pick up the story where the film ends – as Tony Montana is shot. You’ll live to fight another day, although you will lose your mansion, your money and your reputation. The one thing you’ll be left with is your balls. The ‘Balls Meter’ fills up as you go along wreaking revenge, rebuilding your drug empire and kitting out your mansion to get back to being top dog in this third person shooter. You’ll have the freedom to roam the streets of Miami, Florida Keys and the Bahamas, buying and running various fronts for your drugs business. When you kill enemies and taunt them with a flick of the nunchuck, the Balls Meter fills up until you can move into a rage mode, putting your perspective in first person. You’ll then have unlimited ammo and strength to cause all manner of carnage.
There’s more to the game than simply killing everything in sight, though. You can control the economy and manage your empire, customise your mansion and explore a huge world in a GTA style. The Wiimote aiming takes a little getting used to and overall the controls can be a little unwieldy, but it’s great to see Nintendo branch out from its core kiddy gameplay to something with a little… well, balls.
