Nicky dashes for birth

There was high drama at the Dancing on Ice studios on Saturday, with judge Nicky Slater nearly missing the show. Luckily he had a rather good excuse – he’d had to dash straight from hospital after his wife gave birth.
Nicky was at rehearsals at Elstree studios, Herts, when he found out that his other half Christianne had gone into labour. He dashed to their home in Brighton, making it in time to see her pop out a baby boy.
Christianne then told the happy father he should return to film the programme. “The birth went very well and she told Nicky to do the show,” said a source. He made it back with just 10 minutes to spare and got a round of applause from the audience.
“We are still in negotiations on a name,” he told them. “I am nominating ‘Tiger’, but she has not agreed.”
“Mother and baby are doing well.” said a show spokesman. “It was a real race to get back in time for the programme. Afterwards he left straight away to spend more time with them. He’s delighted.”
He wasn’t the only one. After slamming former Hear’Say singer Suzanne Shaw last week, euphoric Nicky gave her a whopping 5.5 out of six, putting the happy star ahead of Hollyoaks actor Chris Fountain for the first time in five weeks.
