Coleen: the new Billie?

If any Doctor Who casting co-ordinators are reading this, take note. One young lady is on the lookout for any Time Lord assistant vacancies going.

Yes, it seems Coleen McLoughlin, aka Mrs Wayne Rooney, has her eyes on a TV acting career. “My big dream is to follow Billie Piper,” she says – presumably not meaning that she plans to stalk the large-mouthed starlet. “I’m a big fan of hers.”

So far, Coleen’s acting experience consists of one line in Hollyoaks, but this week sees her take to the screens presenting ITV2 series Coleen’s Real Women, which takes ordinary women and puts them up for big-brand modelling contracts

“The point of my show is to find real women with a special something, and give them a chance to become a model,” says the 21-year-old. “It will also aim to persuade even the most image-conscious woman that big doesn’t necessarily mean bad.”

“I’m a normal girl with things about me I’d like to change - I’d love longer legs. But I’ve still ended up fronting a campaign for George at Asda. I’d love to help other women achieve something like that.”

Ah, good on her. Here’s hoping her selfless do-gooding will be rewarded by a bit part in Doctor Who – and those longer legs she’s got her eye on.
