Becky's wedding day disaster

The last time Corrie's Becky Granger tried to tie the knot with serial fiancé Steve McDonald, the day ended in disaster when she got drunk and spent her wedding night unconscious and unmarried. Now, attempt No.2 looks destined to go the same way, as jinxed Becky is arrested for drug dealing.
The day gets off to a promising start when Becky manages to get through the ceremony and finally gets Steve's ring on her finger – but there's a car-crash reception in store, when the barmaid is set up for a crime she hasn't committed.
Corrupt copper Hooch has been gunning for Becky for years – ever since he arrested her for shoplifting, and she subsequently reported him to his superiors for asking her to perform a sex act on him. Convinced that the former bad girl has scuppered his chances of promotion, Hooch's resentment deepened when Steve got her off assault and theft charges last year by giving her a false alibi.
As Becky's wedding day draws near, Hooch blackmails Becky's old friend Slug into planting cocaine and cash in her bag – and as wedding guests toast the happy couple in the Rovers, the police burst in and raid the place for drugs.
Hooch locks a sobbing Becky up in a cell on her wedding night, telling her: "This is payback time, you slut. You and your big mouth have been a blot on my career all my working life." You can see the dramatic scenes in August.
