BBC Children in Need aims to make a positive change to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. In 2008 the BBC Children in Need Appeal raised over £38m and plans to do the same, if not better, this year.
Every year, thanks to public donations and the amazing efforts of fundraisers, schools, businesses and corporate partners, BBC Children in Need provides help and support to thousands of youngsters aged 18 and under.
Expect lots of fun and entertainment as Sir Terry Wogan, Tess Daly and Alesha Dixon launch the 30th BBC Children in Need Appeal on Friday 20 November, 7pm on BBC1.
Among the highlights are special instalments of Merlin, Casualty, Walk on the Wild Side and Lark Rise to Candleford, plus a preview of the Doctor Who Christmas special. Musical performances come from the casts of EastEnders, Hollyoaks, The One Show and The Bill, as well as JLS, Taylor Swift, Westlife and, er, the BBC newsreaders
