The two Jennys vent their spleen

Last night's episode of The Apprentice was, as ever, a fiery affair, with Sir Alan Sugar giving not one but two contestants the boot. So what do Jenny Celerier and Jennifer Maguire have to say for themselves?

Ms Celerier – the ginger one with the weird mouth – admits that she thought telling Sir Alan it was her 36th birthday would help things. "I was rather hoping he'd go easy on me and save me," she said. But it was not to be, with the grizzled businessman calling her "a snake, a liar and a cheat".

"I don't think he should have fired me and used those words about me – I think it was very unfair," said Jenny. "I didn't like the way he fired me. I don't believe he got rid of me for business reasons, it was just because he didn't like me."

And her appearance in the series, which included a clash with fellow contestant Lucinda Ledgerwood, has caused problems for Jenny's love life. “Blokes don’t come anywhere near me," she said. "They’ve seen me acting like a bitch on the show and given me a wide berth.”

Feel sorry for her yet? Nah, us neither. What of the other Jenny? Bizarrely, she thought Sir Alan was "just evening out the numbers", adding, "I don’t think he really wanted to fire us.”

She didn't have any kind words for rival Michael Sophocles, the self-proclaimed "good Jewish boy" who didn't know the meaning of "kosher". "For some reason Sir Alan had a soft spot for him. He famously claims to hate schmoozers… but I reckon Michael managed to schmooze him."
