Terry Wogan

Wogan defends “trouser bulge”
We love the irony of telly complaints programme Points of View causing a load of complaints itself. But in this case, it’s the topic of the moans that’s particularly, er, eye-catching.

The offending item in question was, to be blunt, a large bulge in presenter Terry Wogan’s brown moleskin trousers. The BBC received a number of complaints about Wogan’s over-prominent lunchbox.

"I have just watched Points of View with my daughter and my husband,” said one unhappy viewer on the BBC website’s message board. “When the camera panned out on Terry Wogan, I didn't know where to look. Both my daughter and I (who are in no way prudish) were totally embarrassed to see Terry with very revealing trousers on. I'm sure we can't have been the only ones to notice."

The 69-year-old, dubbed Terry “Trousersnake” Wogan by The Sun, has hit back, telling listeners on his Radio 2 show: "Everybody's an expert - you can't appear on television without a crowd of idiots telling you you look like something the cat dragged in."

Wogan's bulge was unavailable for comment, but a rolled-up pair of socks was spotted making a stealthy exit from BBC headquarters.
