Sir Alan softens up

With the fourth series of The Apprentice nearly upon us, Sir Alan Sugar has been talking about being the grumpiest man on television. And according to the Amstrad mogul, he’s not really.
Sugar revealed that his portrayal as a humourless so-and-so on the programme is “a continual argument” between himself and the show’s production staff.
“Like it or not, and I don't like it that much, there's a perception of me just banging the table and shouting,” he said. “The BBC has categorised me as Mr Nasty, so all the humour ends up on the cutting-room floor.”
Wow, we bet there are reams of hilarious footage. Maybe they could put the outtakes on the DVD edition. Anyway, in other Alan “nice guy really” Sugar news, the Brillo-haired fatcat has also been talking about his plans for a kids’ version of The Apprentice.
But think again if you were picturing children’s dreams being shattered by Siralan’s evil pointing finger. "I have put the idea forward for a special for teenagers," he said. "I have even gone to the extent of saying you don't need to fire the person. God knows what people would be calling me for firing an 11-year-old child.”
