Kerry’s chips pledge

After a brief absence, Kerry Katona has been setting the country’s gossip pages alight with a bizarre bit of promotion for her new reality show, Crazy in Love (oh look, it worked).
Kerry invited a series of Z-listers and journalists to a “baby shower”, asking them to bring along gifts to celebrate the birth of her fourth child. But when hacks wanted to quiz her about the show, the former Atomic Kitten singer refused to answer questions until she’d been given a tray of chips with mayonnaise.
Also present at the weird shindig were former Big Brother contestants Ziggy Lichman, Sam and Amanda Merchant and Nikki Grahame.
The show is being trailed with pictures of Kerry and husband Mark Croft in straitjackets, and to reinforce the “hilarious” mental illness theme – the party took place at Covent Garden’s private members club The Hospital – there were teddy bears dotted around the room, which, when squeezed, came out with Kerry saying: "I am bipolar, I have my ups and my downs," and "They are all out to get me."
Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, currently in London for next week’s Brit awards, was in attendance too. When asked if he was a Katona fan, he replied: "Er, no. But I like crazy people."
