Cheryl Cole scoops double award
|
Girls Aloud star and all-round national treasure Cheryl Cole came out on top in not one but two new polls yesterday. Not only was the 25-year-old X Factor judge voted the Best Dressed Woman of the Year – a pretty heady accolade in itself; she was also voted the Style Icon of the Decade.
Chezza even managed to beat off some pretty heavyweight competition along the way, knocking new First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama into a respectable second place in the latter poll. Carla Bruni, the warbling ex-model wife of French President Nicolas Sarkozy, scraped into a respectable third place. Hmmm… Hopefully all this isn’t a sign that Cheryl’s bad-boy husband should pursue a career in politics.
TV channel The Style Network announced the findings after quizzing more than 3,000 women aged 20 to 60. The survey also revealed that the average British woman buys a whopping 20 pairs of shoes a year, and more than half spend in excess of 25% of their income on clothes and make-up. Ouch!
Geordie songbird Cheryl’s other triumph came in Glamour magazine’s Best Dressed Women List 2009, where she bumped supermodel Kate Moss into second place. "In the past year, Cheryl Cole has become everyone's style crush,” gushed Glamour editor Jo Elvin. “She's ridiculously gorgeous, beautifully groomed and always glossy, glossy, glossy." We’re assuming that’s a good thing.
It wasn’t quite such a good day for glamour girl Katie Price, though the artist formerly known as Jordan did win an award: Worst Dressed Woman of 2009. Nice work, Katie!
