Kate has a cat-astrophe!

Before we go any further with this story, we'd just like you to note what remarkable restraint we're employing by not resorting to any Are You Being Served?-style "pussy" jokes. But if you do think the tale could benefit from some, feel free to read it out loud and insert a few of your own...
So, anyway... British actress Kate Beckinsale looked as stunning as ever at last night's Screen Actors Guild Awards - despite experiencing a scary-sounding domestic mishap shortly before leaving the house.
"Our cat, Clive, caught fire on a candle," she revealed to reporters on the red carpet. "As I was getting ready, there was a 'whoosh', like a fireball, and he went up like a rocket."
Thankfully, the crisis was averted as Kate and husband Len Wiseman managed to quell the flames before Clive realised what was going on. "He's fine," the actress reassured concerned journos. "He had no idea what had happened to him."
However, the smell of burnt cat fur was apparently "awful" - although we're sure it's the kind of thing a scented candle or two could easily shift. A word to the wise - or, er, Wiseman - though: make sure you keep the cat away from the candles in future.
