Paris upsets Smurfs

Paris Hilton

Ready for this week's ridiculous Paris Hilton story? Well, as you read on, please do bear in mind we really and truly don't make them up...

The hotel heiress has reportedly caused ructions in Germany - by trying to adopt a couple of Smurfs during a trip to a Berlin Christmas Market.

Now, as the more astute among you may already know, Smurfs don't actually exist. But a couple of Russian dwarves had landed the unenviable gig of covering themselves in blue body paint in order to promote Haribo's new Smurf jelly sweets at the market.

However, Paris reportedly thought the actors were the genuine article. An eyewitness told the Daily Star: "We heard her saying, 'Oh my, real-life Smurfs - I always wanted one when I was a kid,' before turning to her pal and asking, 'Can I take them home?'

"Then she added, 'I didn't realise this is where they come from.' She then started talking about adding them to her collection and bent down to talk to them in a babyish voice. I really don't think she was trying to cause offence but the actors were really narked off about it all."

Apparently, one of the little blue men then flipped and started shouting at Paris in fluent English. Oh dear! There's nothing worse than an angry Smurf, is there?
