Lily’s yurt feelings

Here at Orange Towers, we often argue about the best way to add an extension to our country house while retaining our flouncy bohemian credentials. But now, it seems Lily Allen has finally cracked it.

"My plan is to build a yurt on to the side of my country house,” the ‘22' singer told Q magazine. "You have the house for traditional living and, of course, running hot water and toilets. But the yurt is full of old Moroccan rugs where you hang out.”

Lily, despite the fact that she’s still only a tender 24 years old, is a notorious veteran of Glastonbury – and says she wants to recreate the famous festival’s feel at home. "I want to feel like I'm at Glastonbury year-round, with a few home comforts next door,” she said, adding that she’d call on new boyfriend Sam Cooper for help.

"I want to buy some barn buildings and do them up or buy some land and do a Grand Designs job. [Sam] is in the construction business so will be able to tell me when my dreams are unworkable."

Meanwhile, Lily has revealed she wants to start a charity to get troubled children involved in cricket, because she reckons the game’s tranquillity would calm them down.

"It has not been sold to them as glamorous,” she said. "But if we could convince them they can make money and have a future with cricket, and that they are all British rather than ostracising them, we should."

She added: "It's the perfect game to get angry young kids involved in. It's very relaxing and centring and beautiful.”

Relaxing? We reckon facing a few deliveries from England’s pacemen would have Lil running for the safety of her yurt.
