Judges have Mercy on Madonna

It looks like Madonna won’t have to go baby shopping in Nigeria or Lesotho after all. The Queen of Pop has apparently persuaded three judges looking after her appeal to adopt four-year-old Malawian Mercy James are set to give the green light.
“The paperwork is being typed up now,” said an adoption insider. “All recommendations are in favour of the adoption taking place. Mercy should start packing her bags. She’s off to America.” Hurrah! Get a child-sized set of Louis Vuitton luggage over to Lilongwe pronto, Madge.
“[Madonna’s] ecstatic,” boomed a source close to the Material Girl. “She made a promise that she wouldn’t give up on Mercy and, believe me, she could move mountains when she’s this determined.”
The ruling on Madonna’s appeal is scheduled for next Sunday. Her bid to adopt Mercy was originally scuppered because she had not lived in the country for 18 months, but one of the three appeal judges reckons the law’s out of date and can be overturned.
“No stone has been left unturned to prove the ruling was wrong,” said a legal source close to Her Madgesty. We’ll bet.
