Police seize Amy "drugs" video

Amy Winehouse

Since video footage of Amy Winehouse allegedly smoking a crack pipe appeared on The Sun's website on Monday night, there's been a tabloid frenzy on both sides of the Atlantic. But we think Amy's dad Mitch probably summed up everyone's feelings about this new scandal when he said: "Yes, I am worried about her, but this film doesn't show anything we didn't already know."

Still, police are taking the reports seriously - and have seized the video for further investigation. "We will assess the footage to ascertain whether any action needs to be taken," says a Scotland Yard spokesman.

Meanwhile, we're doing our best not to fall back on any lazy puns by name-checking Amy's albums and songs - but her hair has gone back to black and yesterday afternoon, rumours were rife she'd gone to rehab.

So were the rumours true? No, no, no - although Amy did pay a visit to a top London clinic. "She's not in rehab," says the singer's publicist. "She was seeing a doctor who she regularly sees as part of her ongoing treatment. It was a regular appointment, which she attends all the time. She has not checked in overnight."

Still, that hasn't stopped the Daily Star from running with the oh-so-sensitive headlines: "Amy in mental clinic" and "Amy's gone crackers!" Lovely, eh?

But what next for the troubled singer? "I've lost count of how many times rehab has come up," says a friend. "You can't bring it up with her - she has to want to try and she just doesn't seem to."
