Geri wakes child from coma

Forget the lady with the lamp, modern medicine has discovered the healing powers of the Spice Girl with the microphone.

Not content with inventing Girl Power (sit down, Shampoo, there’s nothing to see here), it seems Geri Halliwell’s added healing power to her impressive CV too.

When brave 14-year-old schoolgirl Jessica Knight was tragically stabbed in Chorley, Lancashire earlier in the year, she suffered a stroke in hospital and entered a coma.

Jessica had been due to attend the Manchester leg of the Spice Girls’ comeback tour before the attack happened.

Step forward The Ginger One. After some calls from Jessica’s mum Jill, Geri decided to turn up at her bedside and belt out a couple of hits.

"Geri sang a couple of lines of one of their songs and Jessica started moving her arms and legs”, said Jill, “It was amazing. The next day, she opened her eyes for the first time.”

However, sadly it seems Jessica can’t actually remember anything about her miracle cure. “When I told her Geri had been to visit her, she looked stunned and said, 'No way!'” said mum. Luckily Ms Halliwell left a concert wristband behind as proof.

One wonders whether medical eggheads will be able to explain this remarkable phenomenon. Regardless, it must only be a matter of time before copies of Geri’s back catalogue are available on prescription.
