Paris's shock new best friend

Blimey - Nicole Richie's let herself go a bit since she had the baby, hasn't she? Oops, we tell a lie. That's not Nicole walking through Beverly Hills with Paris Hilton: it's a mystical guru, who was doubtless thrilled to hook up with everyone's favourite hotel heiress at the weekend.
The unlikely pair visited a bookshop, where the holy man picked up a copy of The Path of the Painted Shaman and Paris opted for Wisdom of Buddha. They then retired to a café where the guru read some key passages from his book aloud, and his companion nodded sagely - clearly hanging on every single word. Yeah, right.
Then - apparently on her new friend's advice - Paris gave a £10,000 necklace to a shocked-but-thrilled passer-by. And luckily the paparazzi were there to capture every spiritually enlightened moment. Marvellous.
Meanwhile, in other hot-off-the-press Paris news, Ms Hilton's blossoming romance with Good Charlotte star Benji Madden appears to be going from strength to strength.
She's even been spotted wearing a ring on her engagement finger, although it was notably absent when she hit the streets with her mystic mate on Saturday. Maybe she didn't want to run the risk of being made to hand it over to a passer-by...
