What does Orange do to keep children safe?

We want all our customers to enjoy their time online. All the following initiatives are aimed at keeping you - and your family - safe online.

strictly teens only
Our teen chat rooms are ring-fenced from the rest of chat, so that children aren't tempted to wander freely between the Teens and standard rooms. It's part of our terms of use that anyone aged 20 or over doesn't enter those rooms under any circumstances.

safety advice
Our safety advice area provides advice to both parents and children on how to stay safe online. It includes the NetSmart guidelines written by the children's charity NCH and links to this area have been introduced across the communicate area of our website.

parental controls
The page leading to our adult chat rooms contains an Internet Content Rating Association (ICRA) 'tag'. This allows parents to use parental controls to prevent their children from accessing our adult chat area. More information about using this and other child protection tools can be found on the Get Netwise website.

We also offer the McAfeeŽ Privacy Service, which includes parental controls, free to all our customers.

educating parents
We now promote the Parent's Guide to the Internet, produced by the children's charity NCH - educating parents about the Internet and how to help their children enjoy a safe and productive environment.

moderated chat
Moderators can ban users and remove anyone from chat who doesn't adhere to our terms of use. Moderators are appointed to oversee Chat and facilitate a cleaner, safer environment.
