Chat - How to protect yourself
Use the following features to protect yourself in chat:
Ignore
Right mouse click on the nickname in the members list on the right and choose the option to ignore the member. You can also ignore a member’s domain if the person comes back under a different nickname and pesters you again (although,be aware that by ignoring a domain you will be ignoring all other members using the same Internet service as that member). When you receive an unwanted p2p from someone, you also get the option to ignore him or her when this pops up. Under chat options you can even put yourself on do not disturb.
Buddy List
You can use the Buddy List feature to keep track of certain members and be notified
when they sign on to the chat site. The buddy list shows you which of your buddies
are currently signed on. It also gives you a convenient way of launching Person-To-Person Chat with them, regardless of which room they’re currently in. In addition you
may wish to only memo or p2p with your buddies in which case you can switch
these features on under “Chat Options”.
Viewing the Buddy List
To view the buddy list, click on the buddy list tab. If you accidentally shut this window at any time you only need hit F5 or refresh to get it back.
Deleting a Buddy
To delete a buddy from your buddy list, activate your buddy list as described above. Click the nickname of the member you wish to delete from the list, and then click the Delete button.
Reverse List
If you wish to see who has added you to their buddy list, click the Reverse checkbox while viewing your Buddy List.
Deleting yourself from another Members Buddy List
To delete yourself from another member’s buddy list, view the “Reverse Buddy List” as described above, select the member who you wish to remove your buddy entry for, and then click the Delete button.
Buddy List Approval
You may not wish to allow all members to freely add you to their buddy list. To configure the system so that you must approve of all requests to have you added to buddy lists, view your profile as described in the previous section. Check the checkbox labeled “Approval Required for Buddy List”.
