Volkswagen launches greenest Golf ever
German marque Volkswagen has unveiled its greenest golf yet, the Bluemotion a car that delivers a combined economy of 74.3mpg and carbon dioxide emissions of just 99g/km. Just think of the money its owners will save!
The eco-friendly Golf will be powered by a 1.6-litre TDI common rail engine that pushes out 105bhp, which will help the car to a decent 0-62mph of 11.3 seconds and a top speed of 118mph.
To improve economy and reduce emissions, Volkswagen has equipped the Bluemotion with a start/stop system, low rolling resistance tyres, regenerative braking, and a multifunction computer that displays recommended gear changes to help it achieve maximum economy.
The Bluemotion's efficiency levels are further enhanced by an aerodynamic sports styling kit (side skirts, sports bumpers and a rear roof spoiler) and a tyre repair kit in the place of the traditional spare tyre, which will help to keep the new Golf's weight down. That's smart thinking.
The Golf Bluemotion is now on sale for a price of just £17,325 on the road.
