In the glovebox - Jason Plato

Jason Plato (c) www.btcc.net 2008

One CD for the car, what would it be?
Jason Plato:
I like a bit of loungy music so something like Hotel Costes maybe. I was at that hotel years ago when I was driving for Renault and Stephane Pompougnac was there at the time putting together the music. And then I went back to the room and there was this cd to buy so I thought why not. It's pretty groovy stuff. Other than that, I might go for Sting. It's a bit poofy but I quite like it. My excuse is that I used to deliver milk with his brother when I was a kid and Sting would sometimes come along. I even remember him coming to the canteen at work and joining us for an all-you-can-eat breakfast for 6p or whatever it was in those days - and it was right at the height of his Police fame. So that's my excuse for listening to his music.

Favourite confectionery for car journeys - now and from your childhood?
Jason Plato:
I'm not that fussed but my wife loves the stuff. There's always something new going in the glovebox. She loves that Haribo stuff which I don't mind. But I guess you can't beat a good cola cube.

Worst driving experience?
Jason Plato:
That's got to be the Ambra one. Can't get over how bad that car was.

Favourite/least favourite road?
Jason Plato:
My favourite would have to be something like the A444 from Evesham to Gloucester - that's a great little road - and the roads arounds Newcastle are pretty tasty. As for bad roads, I just try to forget them. If it's bad, I just get on the mobile and have  chat with someone.

What about a favourite circuit?
Jason Plato:
In the UK, I'd go for the likes of Thruxton and Oulton Park - those are proper racing tracks. Globally speaking, Bathhurst in Australia's a special piece of Tarmac, I'm a fan of Spa and then the old Nurburgring as well. You've got to give it to HItler - it's the one thing he got right, the only thing mind!

Three items in your glovebox?
Jason Plato:
Apart from my wife's sweets, it's business cards - you always need those - and I naff Sting collection of CDs!
